SSAW describes spiral submerged arc welded pipe: strip is formed into a cylinder with a helical seam, which is welded using the submerged arc process. Suitability depends on the governing specification, service conditions and approved manufacturing procedure.

ASTM A252 Spiral Piling Pipe ↗
ASTM A252 covers welded and seamless steel pipe piles. State Grade 1, 2 or 3 as specified by the design, together with dimensions and project acceptance requirements.
